On April 18th, the I'm 3rd Student Volunteers traveled to the Flint Food Bank to learn how resources (i.e. food, medical supplies, and personal items) are collected from local donors and redistributed to those in need throughout the surrounding communities. Students worked together in small groups sorting food, cleaning and packaging donated potatoes, and preparing a variety of goods to be loaded on trucks for redistribution. Service Learning is part of the IB Program at OHS and embedded in the tenants of Oxford Community School's Portrait of a Graduate. These students were caring and decided to take a risk, which ultimately lead to a day filled with purpose and increased knowledge of local issues.
